The rank function doesn't handle tied scores correctly but there's a workaround.
The ability to rank scores or values is a handy feature to have.
The feature allows you to convert those values into a scoring system that can be consistent across weeks or months.
If you’re doing a single ranking process, then Excel’s built-in RANK function, which is in all of the versions, is basically okay to use.
It doesn’t give entirely accurate results but it’s close enough for a single ranking process.
If you need to do it over weeks, then you need to use another formula or, if you’ve got Excel 2010, there is a built-in formula that will do it.
